Naeba Ski Resort Introduction

Naeba Ski Resort is part of Yuzawa town but is about 30-40 minutes from Echigo-Yuzawa Station, and right on the border of Gunma Prefecture. Back in the day it was where Tokyo's elite came to ski and be seen. It is one of the bigger resorts in the area and links up to Tashiro and Kagura to make it a very large area.

The resort, like Kagura, is owned by the Prince Hotel group and they operate the large ski-in, ski-out Naeba Prince Hotel at the base of the slope. It is a huge complex with shops, restaurants, bars, rental shops and hot spring baths spread among its six buildings. There are plenty of other accommodation options in Naeba town as well.

There are a good choice of slopes at Naeba with two gondola lifts taking guests to the higher parts of the mountain. Much of the terrain is more suited to intermediates and experts. There are good facilities for families and several outside activities that do not involve skiing or snowboarding. Naeba has a couple of terrain parks and also has night skiing. The Dragondola is the long 5.5 kilometre gondola that links Naeba Ski Resort to Tashiro, Kagura and Mitsumata areas. To have access to all resorts on one ticket requires a special ticket.

The hotel run a shuttle bus for house guests to and from Echigo-Yuzawa Station. There is also a local bus that runs up to the resort and through Naeba town.

Naeba Asegai is a single lift resort that is at the top of Naeba town. It is not linked to the main Naeba Ski Resort.

In February 2016 Naeba will host an Alpine Ski World Cup event.
