Coming from Tokyo to play in the snow

We’re always happy to answer questions. One that we get quite frequently is regarding coming to Yuzawa, often from Tokyo, just to have a play in the snow. Where should you go?

Just about anywhere will fit the bill. Lots of advice your read says GALA, as the bullet train in the base building makes access really easy. You could also come to Echigo-Yuzawa Station in the town. Ipponsugi is a short walk away, or  Yuzawa Kogen is walkable/easily accessed by free shuttle bus. Most other resorts can be reached by free shuttle bus too and they all have different attractions – play areas, sledging, tubing, snowshoe tours, kamakuras (traditional Japanese igloo-type constructions), etc depending on where you decide to go.

Being in the center of Yuzawa town also means you are close to the little souvenir shops and great restaurants, as well as the many onsen that you can use to warm up after your fun in the snow.

If you have questions on anything to do with messing about with snowballs or playing in the white stuff, drop us a line. We get lots of practice!
