Maiko is one of our favorite places to teach as it has great facilities for learners and some really nice slopes to practice on.
It is a breeze to get to as there is a free shuttle bus service that runs from Echigo-Yuzawa Station. Head out of the East Exit of the station and turn right. The Maiko buses leave from behind the restaurant buildings.
There are a few different schedules depending on when you are visiting:
December 12-December 18 – These buses go from Echigo-Yuzawa Station to the Day Return Ski Center and then back to the station. They will drop you at the hotel but you need to tell the driver that is where you want to go.
December 19-December 25 – The yellow row buses go from Echigo-Yuzawa Station to the hotel and then on to the Day Return Ski Center, before heading back to the Station. The green row buses go for Echigo-Yuzawa Station to the Day Return Ski Center, then back to the hotel and the the station. The 21:00 bus only goes to the hotel/lodge and needs to be reserved in advance. The 22:00 bus only runs on a Friday, goes to the hotel/lodge and needs to be reserved in advance.
December 26-March 20 – The top timetable is for Saturday, Sunday and national holidays as well as December 28-January 1st. Row colors as above. The bottom timetable is for weekdays.
March 21-April 3 – (Same as Dec 19-25)
April 9 & 10 – (Same as Dec 12-18)
It is easy to figure out and once you get to Maiko you are sure to have a good time.
