It is still early season and it is a slower start to the snow than usual, but we are skiing already.
Kagura is open with its snow mat and the main slope under the quad lift at the top, with a mix of machine-made snow and a little bit of natural snow that has fallen. It is all intermediate terrain so not great for beginners. If you are looking to experience snow you can ride the Mitsumata Ropeway and there is a light dusting on the side of the snow mat, but not really enough to play in or do anything with so those snowmen you want to build will have to wait for a bit.

Iwappara and Joetsu Kokusai have postponed their openings (scheduled for Dec 5th), and Maiko will do the same (scheduled Dec 12.) They are ready to open, so as soon as the snow falls and there is enough to slide on, it is all systems go.
Okutadami Maruyama in Uonuma City is opening today and could be a good choice for those wishing to see snow early season.
