23 Sep Kandatsu Kogen Ski Resort Introduction

Kandatsu Kogen is a few minutes drive from Yuzawa Interchange off the Kanetsu Expressway so is one of the easiest resorts to get to by car in this area. It is a fun little resort and usually a good bet if you want to beat the crowds. It’s snow park is much loved by the young, local riders and it also boasts one of Yuzawa’s steepest runs.

Kandatsu has an impressive base building complete with an onsen spa facility and performance space with a stage. They used to hold big concerts there and occasionally still have some good events.

The first lift takes you over the narrow home run up to the main slope which is a long, wide straight affair. The well-maintained snow park is down the right hand side of the main slope as  you head up the lift. The other intermediate and expert runs are up on the slopes to the left.

The night skiing at Kandatsu is well known as they do an all night ski session on certain days that goes into the early hours of the morning. Perfect for those that want to get as much time on the slopes as possible.

We have been teaching ski lessons at Kandatsu and snowboard lessons at Kandatsu for many years. It is particularly good for upper levels looking for some steeper slopes to practice on or for those looking for some freestyle lessons. The main run is a good place to practice too.
