24 Oct Winter season approaching
It is that time of year when you can start getting seriously excited about the arrival of winter. Snow has been falling in other parts of Japan already, and resorts in some parts of the world have opened up.
It is still a way off in Snow Country with the first resort in the Minami Uonuma/Yuzawa area opening in about 25 days time (Kagura on November 19th) and whether we will have snow for opening day, or will be sliding around on snowmat, is another question.
Our list of ski resort opening dates for this region can be found here. We are still missing a few, but updates are coming.
If you haven’t arranged your accommodation yet, the new leaflets for the great value Suberi Meguri package from the Tourist Association are hot off the press. If you are coming to Yuzawa or any part of Snow Country for your winter ski trip drop us a line for information or lessons. We’re often to be found in Maiko, Ishiuchi Maruyama, Iwappara, Kagura, Naeba, and GALA Yuzawa but will go just about anywhere if your itinerary is taking you elsewhere. Christmas/New Year and Chinese New Year tend to be the busy times for us so getting your booking in early is advisable.
We’re off to enjoy the fall scenery and the sound of leaves crunching under our hiking boots.
